Some readings on BORGs

Next Idea Club is March 23.

One topic we will discuss at the next Idea Club is how to turn knowledge into action, particularly from the viewpoint of scientists. You can read a little about some of the results of these approaches at Richard Gayle’s blog, Path to Sustainable. The two reports came from an AAAS annual meeting session entitled Linking science, Knowledge and Policy for Sustainable Development.

The first discussed Boundary Organizations (BORGs).The second examined the operation of some BORGs and how they actually affected change.

Some of the things we might discuss would be: whether these approaches are possible in a wider sense; how to use/create scientifically based BORGs; can organizations like Sustainable Path Foundation act as BORGs and how so; and, what communities are best served by ascientifically-based BORG?

Please feel free to add your own discussion points or questons in the comments. Please click on the orange SIGN UP! box above to RSVP. See you on March 23.
